For years the honey badger has served as an unofficial mascot for students. It’s been a source of memes and comfort. And it’s a rare mascot, indeed. While many schools have taken on the role of bulldogs, eagles, and tigers, the honey badger may be one of the least popular mascots.
But why a honey badger? A honey badger is fierce and tough. They don’t back down from anything they believe in fiercely. They can be intimidating, but if they are on your side, you know you’re in good hands. When our students graduate and go out into the world, they receive a stuffed honey badger to comfort them on their journey.
To mark the beginning of this school year, it was about time to make this mascot official. Welcome Theo the Honey Badger! Sporting the MLTS colors, and carrying a chalice and Meadville Lombard book, Theo (they/them) embodies the spirit of the institution.
Thanks to all our currents students and SAC for contributing and selecting their name. Theo just fits the MLTS vibe perfectly.
